Despite the festive nature of the holidays, they can also be a time of stress and burnout. Don’t let your feelings spiral out of control! Reduce stress and take control by defusing these three top triggers:
Relationships. Whether with your partner or family members, relationships can be the source of turmoil and heightened stress. Exercise patience with others and yourself, set aside differences, and practice understanding. Consider limiting the time you spend in high stress situations, if you need to.
Finances. Especially this year, finances may be strained with extra shopping, expectations and events. You don’t have to give in to the pressure to spend. Plan a budget in advance and stick to it. Consider alternate ways to celebrate and connect that are less expensive and may be more enjoyable.
Health. The physical demands of holiday activities can take their toll. Take a breather and spend some time on yourself and what you need. You don’t have to say yes to every event and project. Maintaining a healthy diet, especially avoiding excess sweets and alcohol, will aid your stamina.
