Contestants Sought for First Annual Loving Spoonfuls: Marin’s Soup and Dessert Challenge

Everyone loves a challenge, and here’s one not to be missed! Community Institute for Psychotherapy proudly announces the first annual Loving Spoonfuls: Marin’s Soup and Dessert Challenge, a fund raising benefit in which restaurants and sponsoring businesses, clubs, and service groups are invited to chop and dice their way to compete for Best Soups, Best Dessert, and People’s Choice awards. This all-ages event will be held Saturday, January 22, 2011, from 12:00 to 3:00 pm at the Mill Valley Community Center.

Culinary Professionals and Sponsoring Foodies will compete separately by providing soups and desserts for judges, as well as event attendees, to taste and judge. A team of culinary professionals, including Pat Fusco (Food Journalist and Columnist for the Pacific Sun,) Mike Weller (Program Director for the California Culinary Academy and Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts) and Anna Haight (Marin IJ Bread and Butter Columnist and founder of AnnasCoolFinds.com) will judge restaurant entries. More judges will be announced as they are confirmed. Attendees will have the chance to vote for their favorite for the People’s Choice award.

The Bank of Marin is the first “Early Bird” to sponsor the Challenge: “This event is something totally different for a Marin County fundraiser. Congratulations to CIP for planning an event that’s new and promotes community spirit,” said Joan Capurro, Senior VP, Director of Community Relations, Bank of Marin. “We are glad to support CIP; people don’t realize the importance of CIP as a basic need in these economic times.

This month, CIP is actively recruiting restaurants and sponsors for the event. The number of organizations able to compete is extremely limited and tables are assigned on a first-come basis. Restaurants will be judged in four categories: First, Second and Third Prize for Soup, and Best Dessert. Sponsors will compete for the People’s Choice Award.

All sponsors, whether competing or not, and all participating restaurants will receive public recognition, marketing benefits thanks to an extensive publicity and promotion campaign to be launched throughout the Bay Area as well as tickets to the event. Those organizations wishing to participate should contact CIP at ([415] 459-5999×101; cipmarin@aol.com) as soon as possible.

Located in downtown San Rafael, Community Institute for Psychotherapy provides quality, affordable mental health services to at-risk youth, families, and individuals, enabling them to end cycles of hopelessness, and build better, healthier lives for themselves and their loved ones.
