Il Davide Restaurant & Starry Night Winery to Present A Winemaker Dinner

Join us for a very special event on Monday, October 4 at 6 pm, when David Haydon, Il Davide Chef/Owner, prepares a masterful, multi-course, gourmet dinner to pair with Starry Night Winery’s award-winning wines (Wayne Hansen, Winemaker). Seating is very limited for this fundraiser to benefit Community Institute for Psychotherapy and reservations should be made as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.. The cost is $60 per person, gratuity not included.  Contact: Il Davide (901 A Street, San Rafael) at (415) 454-8080, or CIP at cipmarin@aol.com or (415) 459-5999 extension 101.

From exquisite hors d’oeuvres through the “Chocolate 3 Ways” finale of the sumptuous dinner, each luscious dish will be matched with an incomparable selection from Starry Night Winery. Proceeds will benefit CIP’s services for at-risk families, couples, and individuals.

“I am very excited,” David Haydon said recently, “ to be a part of a great group of people that are coming together for such an important cause! I am looking forward to pairing some of my most interesting flavors with some fantastic Artisan local wines from Starry Night, our longtime friends!”

A native of the Bay Area, David Haydon got his start in the restaurant business at the age of fifteen. Classically trained in French cuisine, David has chosen to specialize in Italian cuisine. David opened his first restaurant at 23 years of age, Café Ristorante Italia in San Rafael, and opened Il Davide seven years later. Il Davide has been the most award-winning restaurant in Marin for its eclectic selection of classic and Tuscan cuisine and its extensive wine list and wine by the glass selection. A cookbook is in the works.

In 2010, Starry Night Winery celebrates its eleventh anniversary as a bonded winery, although the winning team of Wayne Hansen, Bruce Walker, Mike Miller and Skip Granger started making wine at an amateur level several years before. Their goal is to produce the finest wines possible that accentuate the regions from where the grapes are best grown. Most of their wines are produced in quantities of less than 1,000 cases. By keeping production small, they explain, “we are able to pay attention to every detail in the winemaking process and allow the grapes to fully express their terroir.” They describe their winemaking style as “minimalist, in that we want the wines to make themselves with as little intervention as possible.”
